E-mail Addresses
We store an e-mail address for every account as a unique identifier. This allows us to communicate with account holders for administrative purposes such as resetting an account password. We also store an email address for each comment posted by a reader on this web site. This e-mail address is used to identify comments from different readers, and prevent the same nickname from being used by more than one person. Also, if we think your comments are insightful, we may contact you via e-mail with some questions in order to improve the article. If you ask us not to contact you we will not.
We do not store the e-mail addresses you enter on the "Email This Page to a Friend" form. These addresses are required so that the e-mail message can be valid and not considered "spam" by many e-mail filtering technologies and/or policies. Essentially, it is an e-mail from you to your friend and we are facilitating the creation/sending but do not keep a copy of the message, or the addresses entered for the purpose of sending the message.
